Manzanita Lake Trail ↔ Lassen Volcanic National Park

Every time we visit Manzanita Lake at Lassen Volcanic National Park, I'm always surprised at how beautiful it is. No matter how many times I've seen it, the picturesque lake takes my breath away like I'm seeing it for the first time...

Although there are manzanita bushes scattered around the lake, I think it should be called Glass Lake or Reflection Lake because of obvious reasons.

And, of course, there were lots of squirrels and chipmunks hanging around to make things interesting...

Such a pretty view from the trail around the lake...

A half moon among the pine trees...

Usually, the birds are so skittish that I have a tough time getting any clear photos. But this time they were extra cooperative and we went home happy birders!

Manzanita Lake

I can't get over how beautiful the feathers on a Steller's Jay are! They might be a common bird to most, but we have to drive an hour into the mountains from the valley to see them.

Does anyone else ever thank the birds for taking time to pose for the camera? I do! :D

The hike around the lake is an easy one and so worth it! You can find more info about the Manzanita Lake Trail here.
