Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge

Welcome to the Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge!

What a beautiful day to visit the refuge!

Cloudy days might not make for the best photos, but they are still my favorite.

The auto tour at the refuge offered some beautiful scenery...

Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge - Part 2

Here are some more pics from our drive through the auto tour

We saw a group of Black-tailed Deer on the auto tour and the babies were kicking their heels up and running around, clearly enjoying springtime!

Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge - Part 1

Auto Tour

There's almost always a Western Pond Turtle on this log near the observation platform...

You know it's springtime when you see Desert Cottontails hopping down the auto tour!

We also saw lots of shorebirds during our visit to the refuge.
For pics of all the birds, please visit my birding blog Wings and Daydreams!

Modoc National Wildlife Refuge

So, I think I can safely say that Modoc National Wildlife Refuge might just be the most beautiful refuge I've ever been to.

Even when it's brown and dead from the winter, it's still a place with 360 degree views and gorgeous mountains everywhere you look.

And a place where swans greet you when you first drive in can't be half bad either!

This is my dream house, and it sits right there on the refuge...

I wonder who (if anybody) lives there and if they know how lucky they are to simply look out their window and see Sandhill Cranes.

During our drive through the scenic auto tour, we saw lots of cranes and ducks. Visit my birding blog Wings and Daydreams for photos!
