Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge ↔ Klamath Basin Complex

Last month, we took a drive up to the Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge to see for ourselves if there really are up to 500 Bald Eagles wintering there. Sure enough, we were not disappointed.

(For pics and video of the birds in the area, please visit my birding website Wings and Daydreams.)

The roads were icy on the way up, but the scenery and views are totally worth slippin' and slidin' all over the road! Once we arrived at the refuge, it was a little frosty and all of the mountains and foothills were dusted beautifully with snow.

It's amazing what a difference a drought year can make!
