Hiking to Cold Boiling Lake ↔ Lassen Volcanic National Park ↔ Autumn Hiking Series

My Sunrise Hiking series continues with a hike to Cold Boiling Lake and Crumbaugh Lake in Lassen Volcanic National Park!

The moon was huge in the sky when we arrived and later we found out that it's a Harvest Moon. I still can't believe how well my little camera did at photographing the details of the craters! It just goes to show you that you don't have to have expensive equipment to take beautiful photos.

I really enjoyed the hike to Cold Boiling Lake. It was probably the easiest hike we've been on in Lassen so far and we didn't cross paths with anyone until we were halfway back to the trailhead. Maybe I'm getting better at this hiking thing because I wasn't even sore the next day and that's saying a lot!

I think the first thing you notice when you're standing next to the lake is how quiet it is. Sure, there are a few birds chattering away in the trees once in a while, but for the most part there is absolute silence. And that's hard to come by anywhere else!

There were a few bubbles coming up to the surface, but I'd call it more of a simmer than a boil!

The reflections were amazing on this lake in the early morning light...

I liked the simplicity of this hike and am rating it 5 Gus thumbs up out of 5. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Hubby agrees and gives it 5 Shawn and Gus fist bumps out of 5. πŸ‘ŠπŸ‘ŠπŸ‘ŠπŸ‘ŠπŸ‘Š

Tomorrow, I'll post photos from the rest of our hike to Crumbaugh Lake. In the meantime, be sure to watch the video with highlights from our hike!
